FAQs
Why choose Cairns Photo Courses?
We’re passionate and enthusiastic about photography in North Queensland and really want to convey this to our clients. We want to help create better photographers through hands-on learning and an approach that really builds skills and confidence. We draw on the experience and knowledge built up over a photographic career and are happy to talk gear, software, personal approach or photography industry and answer whatever questions you may have.
You can expect not just to improve your photography… but develop your personal style, make new friends, discover new locations and new sources of inspiration, have fun, deepen or rekindle your passion for photography, and leave with memorable photos and experiences.
What photography equipment do I need for the courses & workshops?
We cover all brands of camera, from Canon and Nikon to Sony, Minolta and others.
The course/workshop outlines will always detail whether it is intended for Digital SLR and/or compact camera users. We believe that’s important to draw a distinction between the two as, while much of the theory is the same, both types have different features and require a different photographic approach.
Whatever camera you do have, generally the following is recommended, depending on the course/workshop:
– Camera bag or backpacker
– Assortment of lens (for DSLR cameras)
– Spare memory cards & batteries
– External flash (if you have one)
– Tripod (for night and landscape photography, as well as low light situations).
Can you recommend any equipment?
If you are intending to buy a new camera and/or accessories for the course, we can happily provide some advice on what gear might be appropriate for you.
Is there an age limit for students?
Not really… as long as they’re interested and have a willingness to learn, we usually accept any students from 15 years of age upwards.
What is the refund policy?
A full refund is available if you cancel your booking more than 14 days prior to the start date. A 50% refund is provided when cancelled less than 14 days prior to the start date. No refunds will be provided for cancellations after the course or workshop has commenced. If, once the course or workshop has commenced, you are unable to attend due to illness or any other reason, we are unable to provide a refund or offer a transfer to another course.
Am I able to transfer my course or workshop to another date?
If you’re unable to attend as originally booked, and wish to be transferred to a future course, you may do so, however the same policy applies with regards to cancellations for any future course.
What is the class size?
We try to keep the class sizes small so as to ensure more personalized tuition. The course/workshop outline will detail the maximum number of students. Please note, that we also reserve the right to cancel a course if the minimum required number of places has not been filled. In the event that we have to cancel a course, a full refund or transfer to a future course will be offered.
